So, working on a Firebase Cloud Function.. deployed it fine from my Mac Mini downstairs, switch to my laptop, cloned the repo using GitKraken (referral link), made a small change and ran Seems to be compiling fine and BAM.. What in the world? Went through and verified both of these pre-requesites This was working fine […]
Tired of getting a warning in Fusion360 when you set RPM to 0 for a tool (like a drag engraver)?
Simple fix – been in the system for a while, but thought I’d share. Go to the “Post Processor” tab on your Tool setup: Simply uncheck the “Live Tool” box: And poof! No more RPM errors!
2017 "Budget" CAD / Dev Laptop comparison
A recent post by a member of the Tormach Operators group on Facebook asked for help in locating a laptop that could run Fusion 360, in the $500-$1,000 USD price range. I had just helped a friend spec out a similar laptop to run landscaping/hardscaping 3D planning software, so of course I volunteered the recommendation […]
Ultimate Dev Workstation 2012
Being that my dev machine hadn’t been re-imaged in over a year or so, I was starting to have some issues with the current Win7 x64 image that I had on the machine I built in 2009. Since I was going to have to do a reinstall of the OS, I figured now was a good […]
Getting a 404 error when trying to download/update Orchard packages from the Gallery?

Ultimate Developer Workstation 2009
Last fall, I put together a NewEgg wishlist for a new 64 bit machine that I built. I tweeted about it, but evidently didn’t make a blog post. The main purpose of this machine is to run Server 2008 in Workstation mode with IIS7 and SQL 2008. The specs are as follows: Intel Core 2 […]
Reflections on the past few weeks – Thoughts on a good friend injured and a few friends who passed.
It’s been a tough month – first I find out a good friend, Kate Watts, broke her pelvis in 3 spots and shattered her elbow from a fall at a wedding she was attending. Then, we lose Bernie Mac and shortly thereafter, Isaac Hayes. This past Wednesday, I found out that a good friend of […]
